Celebrate the End of Summer

Celebrate the end of summer with music, food, children’s activities, classic car show and shine, an ice cream social, and local brews at Coralville’s 5th Street Social.  This annual event began in 2016 and is held on a Saturday in early August.

Music & Activities

Enjoy music and activities on 5th Street between 6th and 12th Avenues. 
  • Kids’ Zone: Free fun for kids, including bounce houses, craft activities, giant games, balloon artist, sidewalk chalk art, and face painting. 
  • Fun for Everyone: Giant Jenga, Giant Tic Tac Toe, Bags games, and chalk art. 
  • Live Music
    • Main Stage (8th Avenue & 5th Street)
    • Second stage (Coralville Community Food Pantry parking lot)
  • Classy Chassy Cruisers Show N Shine:  See classic cars parked on 5th Street (9th Avenue to 12th Avenue). Car owners check in at 10th Avenue and 5th Street to park.
  • Pop Up Cabaret:  If you love musical theater, stop by for show tunes sung by vocal artists with City Circle Acting Company and Young Footliters (at High Grounds on 5th Street)

Food & Brews

  • Food Trucks: Mosley's Barbeque, The Boxed Lunch Truck, Moy's Taco Truck, HyVee, and Marco's Grilled Cheese.
  • Beverage Garden:  A three block area is enclosed as a beverage garden. Craft beer for $5 for a 12-14 ounce pour from four Johnson County craft breweries. Cups are purchased for $5 and IDs checked. Cash only. Due to state law, alcoholic beverages must remain in the beverage garden.
  • Coralville Community Food Pantry Ice Cream Social and Open House:  Music and ice cream at the corner of 5th Street and 12th Avenue. $2 per scoop (proceeds benefit the Food Pantry).
