City Clerk

Responsibilities
The City Clerk is responsible for distributing and maintaining accurate records of all City proceedings, including:

  • All City Council actions, including agendas, minutes, ordinances, and resolutions
  • Cemetery plots
  • Contracts and agreements
  • Claims and suits
  • Licenses and permits, including liquor licenses, cigarette and tobacco permits, taxi company licenses, taxicab decals, peddlers permits, sound permits, and block party applications

The City Clerk also helps with all City, State, or federal government elections and accepts applications for boards and commissions positions. The City Clerk also assists staff in researching information.

Ceremonial Documents
Ceremonial documents, including proclamations, are issued by the Mayor upon request. Requests may be sent through the City Clerk. Proclamation requests are review and approved by the Mayor on a case-by-case basis.
