History of the Facility

History of the Fire Rescue Training Facility

In 1997, the City of Coralville started budgeting for a comprehensive fire training facility. In September 2005, the Coralville Fire Department approached the City Council with a proposal to construct a multi-phase training facility.

The State of Iowa provided a strong financial backing, and Kirkwood Community College partnered with the facility to help it serve as a regional training center.  Located on City of Coralville land and property donated by Magellan Midstream Partners, it is located west of 1st Avenue and south of Interstate 80. The facility was built in 2007.
