Junior Golf Program

The Brown Deer Junior Golf Program helps junior golfers learn and play the game of golf through individualized instruction. The program gives the next generation of golfers a chance to experience the joy of the game in a fun, safe atmosphere where they can learn and develop the skills to become a practiced golfer.

Brown Deer golf pros Sean McCarty and Brian Wernimont provide clinic instruction with a friendly approach and individual interactions each time the junior comes to the course.

Program Information

  • Dates: 2020 golf season
  • Ages: 12 to 18 years old (must make a commitment to following the course rules of Brown Deer Golf Club)
  • Abilities: All skill levels 
  • Fee: $325

Brown Deer Junior Golf Program Perks

  • Assessment of each junior golfer's equipment for a proper fit
  • Instruction from PGA Staff
  • Golf during non-peak hours
  • Instruction about proper scoring and golf etiquette
  • Free Range Balls

How to Register 

  • Pick up information at the Brown Deer Pro Shop, or view the 2020 Brown Deer Youth Golf Program (download PDF).
  • Choose how to register:
    • Complete a registration form (download PDF) and return it, with payment, to the Brown Deer Pro Shop, or
    • Register online and submit payment to the Brown Deer Pro Shop
  • An introductory meeting for youth golfers and a parent is recommended. Contact Brian Wernimont by email or via phone at 319.248.9300.  

PGA Junior League

PGA Junior League Golf is a fun, social, and inclusive opportunity for youth to learn and enjoy the game of golf from PGA and LPGA Professionals.  Like many other recreational youth sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with friends.


Program Information

  • Dates: 2020 golf season
  • Ages: 13 years old and younger
  • Abilities: All skill levels 
  • Fee:  $300 includes team jersey, practices, and matches.

How to Register

PGA Junior League Perks

  • Includes at least 10 sessions of practice and competition
  • Practice and matches take place primarily on Sunday afternoons starting in late May or June
