About National Night Out National Night Out is a night when neighborhoods host block parties, get to know each other, have fun, and visit with local law enforcement.
National Night Out began in 1984 as an effort to promote crime prevention, build community partnerships, connect neighbors, and strengthen neighborhood ties. Neighbors who know each other can help make their neighborhood safer year round. Millions of people and thousands of communities participate each year.
When is National Night Out?
August 1, 2023 The event is traditionally on the first Tuesday each August. National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
How to Host A National Night Out Event in Your Neighborhood
1. Plan a block party
Join with your neighbors on National Night Out and have a block party or other outdoor event to build neighborhood spirit and familiarity. Neighborhoods can host a party is a way that safely suits their residents. Block party planning tips can help you get started.
2. Register your block party Register your block party, and representatives from Coralville Police Department, Fire Department, and City Council will stop by as many registered block parties as possible to say hello. We encourage parties to register by July 25, 2023 so we can plan where to visit.
