James Street Closure Is Extended

Construction News Coralville

Updated June 25, 2020:

James Street closure extended into July due to rainfall

This is an update to the press release issued on June 16. The additional rainfall late the week of June 15 and on Monday, June 22, has further delayed completion of the deep sanitary sewer work and pavement replacement on James Street west of Camp Cardinal Boulevard. Although rain chances are in the forecast over the next week, the new goal is to re-open James Street to traffic on or before July 10. Access to 2325 and 2345 James Street continues to be from the west via 25th Avenue or Coral Ridge Avenue.

Updated June 3, 2020; updated June 11 to reflect possible reopening on June 19:

Starting June 3, James Street is reduced to one lane west of Camp Cardinal Boulevard near 2325 James Street, with one lane yielding to oncoming traffic.

The lane closure will expand to a full-width road closure between 2305 and 2325 James Street starting Tuesday, June 9, weather permitting. During the full-width road closure, 2325 & 2345 James Street will only be accessible from the west via 25th Avenue.

James Street should re-open to traffic on Thursday, June 18, however that may be adjusted to June 19 due to rain events. The lane reduction and road closure are needed to install deep sanitary manholes for the Coralville Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements.
